The Jack Kelly Fair Play Award was established by the United States Olympic Committee in 1985 to honor the late USOC
President Jack Kelly Jr. The award is presented to an athlete, team, coach or official in recognition of an outstanding act
of fair play and sportsmanship displayed during the past year.
Fair play can be described as an athlete who is dedicated to playing fair, obeys the rules, and upholds the spirit of the
game. Sportsmanship is an athlete whose conduct and attitude demonstrate gracious behavior before, during, and after
competition.
Nominees are now being sought for this distinguished honor, which will be officially presented during the 2011 U.S.
Olympic & Paralympic Assembly in Colorado Springs, CO, September 22-25, 2011. Please use the attached form to

USATT will host an ITTF Women's Coaches Education Seminar on September 11-17,
2011 in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the Olympic Training Center, 1 Olympic Plaza
Colorado Springs, CO-80909.
This course will feature a special guest course conductor, Polona Cehovin Sushin.
Polona serves as the ITTF European Development Officer and is a leading exponent of
Women's Education and Coaching within the ITTF.
The seminar will be composed of the ITTF-PTT Level 1 Course and Course Conductor
Training. This course will include: 4-days for ITTF Level 1 Course, 1 day for ITTF IPC
Course, and 2 days of Course Conductor Training.
Arrival day in Colorado Springs: September 10, 2010
Departure day: September 18, 2010.
The USATT will cover the expense of room and board at the US Olympic Training
Center for the coaches selected to attend.
To pass the ITTF Level 1 Course – participants must attend all training sessions, pass
the practical exam, complete an additional 30 of practical coaching (after the course)
and receive a positive evaluation on the practical coaching.
To become ITTF Course Conductors – Coaches must successfully pass all the Level I
requirements and also complete the additional two days of training on teaching the
course and successfully complete the practical exam.

Eligibility: The Course is open to all interested Table Tennis Coaches and persons wishing
to become certified as ITTF-PTT Level 1 Coaches. Coaches completing all the
course requirements will receive both ITTF and PTT (Paralympic) Level 1
Certification. In addition, coaches who pass this course and who are not USATT
Certified will also be awarded "State" Level Coaches Certification by the USATT.
Course Conductor:
ITTF Course Conductor/Trainer, Richard McAfee will conduct the course. Coach
McAfee has conducted ITTF Courses around the World and also serves as the
Chairman of the USATT Coaching Committee.
Head Coach of the Topspin Table Tennis Club, Francisco Mendez will serve as
the local organizer.
Equipment: Butterfly tables (7) and balls will be used for the course.
Course Description:
The ITTF introduced a new system of Coach Accreditation in English in 2004 and in French and
Spanish in 2005. The ITTF Level 1 Coaching Manual formed the basis, containing syllabus and
course material for:
· Community Leader Course-3 hour
· School Teacher Course-6 hour
· Club Coach Course-12 hour
· ITTF Level 1Course-24 hour
· All courses are cumulative.
ITTF Level 1 is the first level officially recognized by ITTF and has the following requirements:
· Attendance at 24 hour course conducted by an ITTF approved Course Conductor
· 10 minute Coaching Practical presentation during the course. A "PASS" is required to
be eligible for ITTF Level 1
· After the course, 30 hours coaching practice must be completed. This coaching practice
should be predominantly group coaching benefiting the table tennis community or junior
or school groups.
· From the 30 hours coaching practice, 5 hours must be supervised by the ITTF Course
Conductor or a person appointed by the ITTF Course Conductor. This supervisor
evaluates each coach using the "Confidential Coaching Report" [pages 299-301 of the
ITTF Level 1 Manual] This must be approved by the ITTF Course Conductor, who
provides the certificates if all requirements are met.
In 2007 IPTTC has developed an optional additional 6 hours for "athletes with disabilities" in
English. Coaches that complete the additional 6 hours will be ITTF + PTT Level 1 Coaches.
Course Schedule:
· August 1-4, 2011, The ITTF Level 1 Course will be conducted. There will be 2 sessions
each day.
· August 5, 2011, The PTT Level 1 Course will be conducted. There will be 2 sessions
each day.
