Rules of Play
Etiquette
All rules have been determined by the elected members of the board of the Tucson Table Tennis Club. Playing with the club is a privilege and we expect everyone to be respectful of others.
- All non-members and applicants must sign a liability waiver before playing at club activities. Please see the front desk.
- Non-members are encouraged to join our club and benefit from our players and equipment. Of course our non-profit club does need the monies from dues to pay for equipment maintenance and rented spaces.
- Dues are paid each January through our on-line methods.
- Please refer to the club Constitution (click on Documentation at the top of this page) for more information.
Rules of Play
- Each session the players can choose whether to play or practice. If they decide to play, the match shall consist of the best three out of five games and warm-up time is limited to three minutes. If they choose to practice then they can practice for 15 minutes. After that the initial challenge shall vacate the table.
- If a challenger asks to practice on a table that is currently playing matches, after practicing the challenger will leave the table. If both players are practicing- they must determine who stays. If a challenger wants to play and the current player at the table wants to practice, it is customary for the challenger to practice. Then at the end the challenger will stay to play a match (or practice until another match player arrives).
- Any player can challenge any table by placing their paddle next to a table. This shall not be done in the middle of a point.
- If multiple players have their paddles waiting for a table, the order will be the order the paddles were placed.
- An individual may only place a challenge paddle at one time (one table).
- If at the conclusion of a match or practice session there are TWO paddles waiting to play at the table, and the winning player has won at least TWO matches in a row, then both the winner AND the loser should leave the table allowing two new paddles to come into play. This ensures that play cycles through more players during busy days. If this situation arises often, we will work to rent more space and alleviate the crowding. With TWO paddles waiting, 15 minute practice sessions are discouraged.
Etiquette
- All club members are responsible for set up, take down and clean up of the TTTC facilities, please help setup and clean-up each time.
- Be courteous of others in the middle of a match, do not obstruct, interrupt, or get in the way of a match currently going on. This includes being overly loud, unwanted heckling, or putting a paddle down in the middle of a point.
- Wait until a point has concluded before placing a paddle, or fetching an errant ball.
- Club members will warmly greet visitors and explain how things work. Repeat (public) visitors are encouraged to join the club and support our efforts.
